The Windows of Heaven and the Physics of Creation
The Windows of Heaven is an astronomical repulsive force, which increases as the Windows are opened.  It causes time to pass by very quickly for the stars caught-up in it.  As the stars are moved away from earth at the time of Noah's flood, up to billions of years pass by for them, while just 5 months pass by on earth.

The purpose of this page is to provide a reasonably plausible explanation of how Biblical Creation and the Bible's description of the forces of nature match very well with known astronomical and physical observations.  Certainly, other explanations are possible and are fine with me, as long as they don't discredit the Bible in any way.  I fervently believe that the Bible is without error, and whatever explanation is derived for creation, it must always match what the Bible says, period!  Thanks, Brian Davis.

John Chapter 1, KJV 1611 Comments
1 In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God.
2 The same was in the beginning with God.
3 All things were made by him; and without him was not any thing made that was made.
4 In him was life; and the life was the light of men.
5 And the light shineth in darkness; and the darkness comprehended it not.
6 There was a man sent from God, whose name was John.
7 The same came for a witness, to bear witness of the Light, that all men through him might believe.
8 He was not that Light, but was sent to bear witness of that Light.
9 That was the true Light, which lighteth every man that cometh into the world.
10 He was in the world, and the world was made by him, and the world knew him not.
11 He came unto his own, and his own received him not.
12 But as many as received him, to them gave he power to become the sons of God, even to them that believe on his name:
13 Which were born, not of blood, nor of the will of the flesh, nor of the will of man, but of God.
14 And the Word was made flesh, and dwelt among us, (and we beheld his glory, the glory as of the only begotten of the Father,) full of grace and truth.
It is very clear; Jesus Christ created everything that exists!  Nothing exists that He didn't make.  Also, please notice that Jesus provides light itself!  Light, as we will see in Genesis 1, must be created, and it was by Jesus himself.
     Put simply, Jesus is God.

John Chapter 20, KJV 1611 Comments
19 Then the same day at evening, being the first day of the week, when the doors were shut where the disciples were assembled for fear of the Jews, came Jesus and stood in the midst, and saith unto them, Peace be unto you.
20 And when he had so said, he shewed unto them his hands and his side. Then were the disciples glad, when they saw the Lord.
21 Then said Jesus to them again, Peace be unto you: as my Father hath sent me, even so send I you.
22 And when he had said this, he breathed on them, and saith unto them, Receive ye the Holy Ghost:
23 Whose soever sins ye remit, they are remitted unto them; and whose soever sins ye retain, they are retained.
24 But Thomas, one of the twelve, called Didymus, was not with them when Jesus came.
25 The other disciples therefore said unto him, We have seen the Lord. But he said unto them, Except I shall see in his hands the print of the nails, and put my finger into the print of the nails, and thrust my hand into his side, I will not believe.
26 And after eight days again his disciples were within, and Thomas with them: then came Jesus, the doors being shut, and stood in the midst, and said, Peace be unto you.
27 Then saith he to Thomas, Reach hither thy finger, and behold my hands; and reach hither thy hand, and thrust it into my side: and be not faithless, but believing.
28 And Thomas answered and said unto him, My Lord and my God.
29 Jesus saith unto him, Thomas, because thou hast seen me, thou hast believed: blessed are they that have not seen, and yet have believed.
30 And many other signs truly did Jesus in the presence of his disciples, which are not written in this book:
31 But these are written, that ye might believe that Jesus is the Christ, the Son of God; and that believing ye might have life through his name.
If you were to draw for yourself an imaginary world on paper, you could make it flat.  This two dimensional world would exist from left to right, and from top to bottom, but would have no third dimension; that is, the dimension coming up out of the page.
In this "Flatland" which you have created, your people would only be able to look in the plane of the paper, from left to right, and from top to bottom.  They could not see out of the plane of the paper.  If you built a room for your Flatlanders, it could be just as simple as a box.  For the Flatlanders who are inside this box, it is a sealed & closed room, but you can enter this sealed & closed two dimensional room just by putting your hand on the page.  Hence, you have "appeared" in the sealed room with no apparent method of entry.
This is how Jesus came into this three dimensional room as described here in John 20.  He entered into the sealed & closed three dimensional room from space which exists in four or more dimensions!
From the Astronomy Pic of the Day on 3-18-2007, you can see a line model of 4-dimensional space, also known as a hypercube. Edward Witten's M-theory gives the mathematical explanation of this 4-D space.

Job Chapter 3, KJV 1611 Comments
1 After this opened Job his mouth, and cursed his day.
2 And Job spake, and said,
3 Let the day perish wherein I was born, and the night in which it was said, There is a man child conceived.
4 Let that day be darkness; let not God regard it from above, neither let the light shine upon it.
5 Let darkness and the shadow of death stain it; let a cloud dwell upon it; let the blackness of the day terrify it.
6 As for that night, let darkness seize upon it; let it not be joined unto the days of the year, let it not come into the number of the months.
Job here, by his own curse, has obscured the day of his birth.  I believe that Jesus honored Job's request, and kept the exact history of when Job was born unclear.  However, as we will see in Job 5:10, this is probably after Noah's Flood.

Job Chapter 4, KJV 1611 Comments
21 Doth not their excellency which is in them go away? they die, even without wisdom.      These men arguing with Job are not without knowledge regarding God.  Here, Eliphaz recognizes that without the "tent-cord" that connects us to God, we will die.  Also, God's tent-cord provides us with our wisdom.  What gives us our intellect and our appreciation of the infinity of God's power comes to us through the tent-cord.  In other words, the essence of your being is far more than what merely fits inside your skull!

Job Chapter 5, KJV 1611 Comments
10 Who giveth rain upon the earth, and sendeth waters upon the fields:

19 He shall deliver thee in six troubles: yea, in seven there shall no evil touch thee.
20 In famine he shall redeem thee from death: and in war from the power of the sword.
21 Thou shalt be hid from the scourge of the tongue: neither shalt thou be afraid of destruction when it cometh.
22 At destruction and famine thou shalt laugh: neither shalt thou be afraid of the beasts of the earth.
23 For thou shalt be in league with the stones of the field: and the beasts of the field shall be at peace with thee.
24 And thou shalt know that thy tabernacle shall be in peace; and thou shalt visit thy habitation, and shalt not sin.
25 Thou shalt know also that thy seed shall be great, and thine offspring as the grass of the earth.
26 Thou shalt come to thy grave in a full age, like as a shock of corn cometh in in his season.
Eliphaz states here in verse 10 that "He gives rain upon the Earth".  It probably never rained on Earth until after the flood (see Genesis 2:5), so this means that Job lived after Noah's Flood.

Versus 19-26 are pretty simple; you need fear nothing but the Lord.

6 Which shaketh the earth out of her place, and the pillars thereof tremble.

8 Which alone spreadeth out the heavens, and treadeth upon the waves of the sea.

33 Neither is there any daysman betwixt us, that might lay his hand upon us both.

Job states here in verse 6 "as common knowledge of the day" that Jesus can shake the Earth, and that the Earth had pillars.  Notice the fairly uniform pattern of the Devil's Postpile above.  Could this be a remnant of a foundation of the earth?  Did Jesus cut through this foundation to collapse the firmament called Heaven (note the cut scrapes on the rock), thereby causing the fountains of the deep to burst forth?  Click on the picture above to see the side view of the Devil's Postpile.  Here is a photo of the Giant's Causeway (Click for a Giant View here):

Noah and his family, I believe, observed this.  I don't think verse 8 is figurative.  I believe they saw the stars themselves "stretched out", or moved away from Earth.  (places in the Bible where interstellar movement is mentioned)

Here in verses 32 & 33, Job himself pleads with God that a mediator (i.e. Jesus) is needed.  Thank you Job!

14 Lo, these are parts of his ways: but how little a portion is heard of him? but the thunder of his power who can understand?      Verse 14 is important to understanding Jesus' creation.  In the last 100 years, our abilities to see the phenomenally complex details of His works are increasing, but still, we really have a tough time "understanding the thunder of His power".  The full details of creation are truly beyond our comprehension.

     14 If he set his heart upon man, if he gather unto himself his spirit and his breath;
15 All flesh shall perish together, and man shall turn again unto dust.
Elihu affirms that nothing can live without Jesus' constant intervention.  Perhaps there is a component of life that requires constant controlling.  Perhaps this is something to do with our DNA, where DNA is simply the data for our "biological fingerprint", and the operating system for life is controlled from a dimensional plane beyond our perception.  Drawing an analogy to the computer you are now using to read this from, your DNA would be like the computer's data, and Jesus' control over the essence of your life would be like the computer's operating system.

Elihu describes the wonderful capability of Jesus to "engineer the Earth".  I believe that Job lived very shortly after Noah's Flood and at that time it was commonly recalled from parental stories that, before the flood, the sky was a not the color that it is today, but perhaps was a solid bronze color during the daytime.  After the flood, it gradually faded to blue over a period of many years, as the magnetic field wound down.  Why would this be?
Perhaps it was because the core of the Earth was a very strong and active atomic fission reactor, generating a huge magnetic field that enveloped the Earth's atmosphere.  Much like a super-strong version of the Northern Lights, this field reflected a good portion of the sun's visible spectrum (with the color bronze coming through the strongest), as well as blocking-out all of the infrared and ultraviolet spectrums.  Remember that God promises, in Genesis 9:8-17, that He will never again flood out all life on Earth, and gives the Rainbow as the sign of the covenant.  Since a rainbow could have been seen even in splashing water, it makes sense that there wasn't enough of the full spectrum of visible light reaching the pre-flood surface of the Earth to view a rainbow.
Another effect of the bronze sky would be to block-out deep space radiative cooling.  The effective heat-sink of our current night sky is -50oF, which can cause a noticeable radiative cooling effect (like the frost we see on things in the morning, even when the ambient temperature was never even close to the freezing point).  The pre-flood Earth would not have had to contend with this cooling effect.
Verse 21 also tells us that by the time of Job, no one could look directly at the sun without rain clouds to filter down its' intensity.  But, before Noah's Flood, the bronze mirror of the sky reflected away most of the sun's energy, enabling direct viewing of the sun without damaging the eye.

4 Where wast thou when I laid the foundations of the earth? declare, if thou hast understanding.

7 When the morning stars sang together, and all the sons of God shouted for joy?
8 Or who shut up the sea with doors, when it brake forth, as if it had issued out of the womb?
9 When I made the cloud the garment thereof, and thick darkness a swaddlingband for it,

14 It is turned as clay to the seal; and they stand as a garment.
15 And from the wicked their light is withholden, and the high arm shall be broken.

19 Where is the way where light dwelleth? and as for darkness, where is the place thereof,
20 That thou shouldest take it to the bound thereof, and that thou shouldest know the paths to the house thereof?
...
24 By what way is the light parted, which scattereth the east wind upon the earth? ...

29 Out of whose womb came the ice? and the hoary frost of heaven, who hath gendered it?

31 Canst thou bind the sweet influences of Pleiades, or loose the bands of Orion?

33 Knowest thou the ordinances of heaven? canst thou set the dominion thereof in the earth?

Job 38 is the oldest record of the direct words of God, and I believe are statements of fact, not figurative allegory.  God asks Job about the foundations of the Earth.  I believe these were literal foundations, as will become more apparent as we study Genesis 1:6-8.  Click on the picture above to see a close-up image of the vertical texture of the Devil's Tower, a possible foundation.  Another possible example would be from Monument Valley:

Verse 7 describes a time before the flood, when the stars were all the same age, and Jesus' previous creation, the angels, celebrated.  Verse 8 references the trapped subterranean waters (the fountains of the great deep) which caused Noah’s flood.  After the flood, verse 9 describes the introduction of rain clouds and the night sky becoming much darker.  This is due to the stars being moved much further away from earth by the Windows of Heaven.

All continental drift occurs right after the flood, as described in Verse 14, when the ocean floors dropped and the mountains rose out of the sea.  The surface of the earth is given a whole new appearance; one that looks as if it could be random, and not designed.  Verse 15 describes Hell; a place where photons are not allowed to make the journey from the dwelling of light.  It is a place of eternal darkness where the wicked are subjected to the eternal wrath of God.

Photon
Look at what verses 19 and 20 could be saying; light comes from a non-obvious source!  Perhaps light originates from outside our three dimensional reality.  Maybe photons are like an empty energy capsule that, when charged with heat energy, reach out of our three dimensional reality into the dwelling of light's reality to capture and carry back pure light here to dissipate it.  Maybe the dwelling of light and the dwelling of darkness combine to form an Ether Transmission Medium (what the Michelson-Morley Experiment sought).  To complete their "photonic journey", the photon energy capsule, now depleted of light, deposit themselves in the place of darkness.
Also, see this CNN article on light traveling at 310 times faster than normal!  This could indicate that the dwelling of light is a point source that is simultaneously close to all points in our three dimensional reality.  In other words, this experiment shows that the dwelling of light could provide an equal-length short cut between any two points in our reality (but only for zero-mass items).  Verse 24 is another reference to the source of light.
From Exodus 10:21, the 9th Plague on the Egyptians was three days of total darkness: Then the LORD said to Moses, "Stretch out your hand toward heaven that there may be darkness over the land of Egypt, a darkness to be felt."  This might be saying that the photonic pressure would be zero when the dwelling of light is shut-off to any three dimensional reality.  Even though heat energy would still form photon shells, they would remain empty and have no pressure.  Then again, it may just mean that the Egyptians had to feel around, but it is an interesting verse and another good example of light being a major creation of Jesus (it took a whole day by itself).  Light is a created effect under the total control of God, and has never been, nor will ever be, just a "natural phenomenon".
Please see the Genesis 1 comments too.

Frost at night begins after the flood, as the mirror of the sky looses magnetic field strength, and the chilling effects of deep space radiative cooling take hold, as described in verse 29.

In verse 31 here, God seems to be referencing two different forces which control these two constellations; one that can attract stars, and another that can repel stars.  The first force is one of attraction (gravity) and the second force is repulsive (the Windows of Heaven).  I will discuss this later in the Genesis 7 comments.  (places in the Bible where interstellar movement is mentioned)

I personally don't know the laws of the heavens, but because of this passage, I now know that Jesus made laws that cause the heavens to have an influence on the Earth.  I am sure this is much more involved than just the gravitational effects of the stars on the Earth.

15 Behold now behemoth, which I made with thee; he eateth grass as an ox.
16 Lo now, his strength is in his loins, and his force is in the navel of his belly.
17 He moveth his tail like a cedar: the sinews of his stones are wrapped together.
18 His bones are as strong pieces of brass; his bones are like bars of iron.
19 He is the chief of the ways of God: he that made him can make his sword to approach unto him.
20 Surely the mountains bring him forth food, where all the beasts of the field play.
21 He lieth under the shady trees, in the covert of the reed, and fens.
22 The shady trees cover him with their shadow; the willows of the brook compass him about.
23 Behold, he drinketh up a river, and hasteth not: he trusteth that he can draw up Jordan into his mouth.
24 He taketh it with his eyes: his nose pierceth through snares.
Argentinosaurus
God describes what is commonly known as a brontosaurs.  Both this creature, and the Leviathan described in Job 41, were obviously in existence for Job to have seen them.  Notice that God says to "Behold, Behemoth".  They are not looking at bones.
We are only talking about 4,500 years ago or so.  I think that this is a clear indication that the Earth just isn't that old.

1 Canst thou draw out leviathan with an hook? or his tongue with a cord which thou lettest down?
2 Canst thou put an hook into his nose? or bore his jaw through with a thorn?
3 Will he make many supplications unto thee? will he speak soft words unto thee?
4 Will he make a covenant with thee? wilt thou take him for a servant for ever?
5 Wilt thou play with him as with a bird? or wilt thou bind him for thy maidens?
6 Shall the companions make a banquet of him? shall they part him among the merchants?
7 Canst thou fill his skin with barbed irons? or his head with fish spears?
8 Lay thine hand upon him, remember the battle, do no more.
9 Behold, the hope of him is in vain: shall not one be cast down even at the sight of him?
10 None is so fierce that dare stir him up: who then is able to stand before me?
11 Who hath prevented me, that I should repay him? whatsoever is under the whole heaven is mine.
12 I will not conceal his parts, nor his power, nor his comely proportion.
13 Who can discover the face of his garment? or who can come to him with his double bridle?
14 Who can open the doors of his face? his teeth are terrible round about.
15 His scales are his pride, shut up together as with a close seal.
16 One is so near to another, that no air can come between them.
17 They are joined one to another, they stick together, that they cannot be sundered.
18 By his neesings a light doth shine, and his eyes are like the eyelids of the morning.
19 Out of his mouth go burning lamps, and sparks of fire leap out.
20 Out of his nostrils goeth smoke, as out of a seething pot or caldron.
21 His breath kindleth coals, and a flame goeth out of his mouth.
22 In his neck remaineth strength, and sorrow is turned into joy before him.
23 The flakes of his flesh are joined together: they are firm in themselves; they cannot be moved.
24 His heart is as firm as a stone; yea, as hard as a piece of the nether millstone.
25 When he raiseth up himself, the mighty are afraid: by reason of breakings they purify themselves.
26 The sword of him that layeth at him cannot hold: the spear, the dart, nor the habergeon.
27 He esteemeth iron as straw, and brass as rotten wood.
28 The arrow cannot make him flee: slingstones are turned with him into stubble.
29 Darts are counted as stubble: he laugheth at the shaking of a spear.
30 Sharp stones are under him: he spreadeth sharp pointed things upon the mire.
31 He maketh the deep to boil like a pot: he maketh the sea like a pot of ointment.
32 He maketh a path to shine after him; one would think the deep to be hoary.
33 Upon earth there is not his like, who is made without fear.
34 He beholdeth all high things: he is a king over all the children of pride.

God describes here the T-Rex; only much more capable than that Jurassic park movie ever suggested.  Here, T-Rex can breath fire hot enough to ignite coals!  That takes a great deal of sustained heat.  If you don't think animals can mix two dissimilar chemicals together to make a hot offensive weapon, then check out this description of the Bombardier Beetle.
What a designed and engineered animal!  He was armor plated, and virtually unstoppable.  He was also a very powerful swimmer, swimming hard enough to make the water cavitate!  In terms of his capabilities, he is not dreadfully unlike the Godzilla from the latest movie.
I think the main reason we don't see the Behemoth and the Leviathan any longer is that they just didn't reproduce effectively in a post-flood Earth.  The Earth was much more of a paradise before the flood and for a brief period of time thereafter, as I will discuss in the Genesis 8 comments.
All of this is more evidence that Jesus is without bound when it comes to anything, including making the most amazing animals.

Genesis Chapter 1, KJV 1611 Comments
1 In the beginning God created the heaven and the earth.
2 And the earth was without form, and void; and darkness was upon the face of the deep. And the Spirit of God moved upon the face of the waters.
3 And God said, Let there be light: and there was light.
4 And God saw the light, that it was good: and God divided the light from the darkness.
5 And God called the light Day, and the darkness he called Night. And the evening and the morning were the first day.

6 And God said, Let there be a firmament in the midst of the waters, and let it divide the waters from the waters.
7 And God made the firmament (1), and divided the waters which were under the firmament from the waters which were above the firmament: and it was so.
8 And God called the firmament Heaven. And the evening and the morning were the second day.
9 And God said, Let the waters under the heaven be gathered together unto one place, and let the dry land appear: and it was so.
10 And God called the dry land Earth; and the gathering together of the waters called he Seas: and God saw that it was good.
11 And God said, Let the earth bring forth grass, the herb yielding seed, and the fruit tree yielding fruit after his kind, whose seed is in itself, upon the earth: and it was so.
12 And the earth brought forth grass, and herb yielding seed after his kind, and the tree yielding fruit, whose seed was in itself, after his kind: and God saw that it was good.
13 And the evening and the morning were the third day.

14 And God said, Let there be lights in the firmament of the heaven to divide the day from the night; and let them be for signs, and for seasons, and for days, and years:
15 And let them be for lights in the firmament of the heaven to give light upon the earth: and it was so.
16 And God made two great lights; the greater light to rule the day, and the lesser light to rule the night: he made the stars also.
17 And God set them in the firmament of the heaven to give light upon the earth,
18 And to rule over the day and over the night, and to divide the light from the darkness: and God saw that it was good.
19 And the evening and the morning were the fourth day.
20 And God said, Let the waters bring forth abundantly the moving creature that hath life, and fowl that may fly above the earth in the open firmament of heaven.
21 And God created great whales, and every living creature that moveth, which the waters brought forth abundantly, after their kind, and every winged fowl after his kind: and God saw that it was good.
22 And God blessed them, saying, Be fruitful, and multiply, and fill the waters in the seas, and let fowl multiply in the earth.
23 And the evening and the morning were the fifth day.
24 And God said, Let the earth bring forth the living creature after his kind, cattle, and creeping thing, and beast of the earth after his kind: and it was so.
25 And God made the beast of the earth after his kind, and cattle after their kind, and every thing that creepeth upon the earth after his kind: and God saw that it was good.
26 And God said, Let us make man in our image, after our likeness: and let them have dominion over the fish of the sea, and over the fowl of the air, and over the cattle, and over all the earth, and over every creeping thing that creepeth upon the earth.
27 So God created man in his own image, in the image of God created he him; male and female created he them.
28 And God blessed them, and God said unto them, Be fruitful, and multiply, and replenish the earth, and subdue it: and have dominion over the fish of the sea, and over the fowl of the air, and over every living thing that moveth upon the earth.
29 And God said, Behold, I have given you every herb bearing seed, which is upon the face of all the earth, and every tree, in the which is the fruit of a tree yielding seed; to you it shall be for meat.
30 And to every beast of the earth, and to every fowl of the air, and to every thing that creepeth upon the earth, wherein there is life, I have given every green herb for meat: and it was so.
31 And God saw every thing that he had made, and, behold, it was very good. And the evening and the morning were the sixth day.
What an amazing thing!  Light itself needed to be created!  We know that light has a dual nature of being both a particle and a wave.  Called Photons by Einstein in 1905, their particle nature appears to be in our three dimensional reality, while their wavelength and constant speed characteristics (regardless of the speed of the observer) seem to be driven from a fourth or more dimension that is beyond our three dimensions (see the Job 38 comments).  Jesus writes the laws of the universe, and makes something we tend to think would just naturally occur anyway.  It didn't just happen to be here; Light needed to be created!
We know that the 6 days of Creation were actual days, because it is written "And the evening and the morning".  This phrase is used to describe all 6 days.  Only DAYS have an evening and a morning; huge periods of time, or an ERA, does not.

Pre-flood
 model of Earth
A cross-section
of the pre-flood Earth

Back in Job 38:4, God mentions foundations that support the Earth.  I believe these foundations supported the firmament.  Please note that in verse 8, the firmament is given the proper name "Heaven", with a capital "H".  This is the only place in the bible where heaven appears capitalized (except for at the front of a sentence).  This to me means that the firmament called "Heaven" made Earth a perfect place, like heaven.
What would this "Earth like heaven" be like?  Perhaps Earth was heated from the inside-out, with a Fission reactor.  The water trapped in the subterranean cavern shell surrounding the globe would distribute the internally generated heat of the core evenly over the surface of the Earth.  Radiative cooling heat loss at night would have been eliminated by the bronze sky, as mentioned in the Job 37 comments.  Additionally, this bronze sky would keep the sun's infrared heat energy from reaching the surface of the Earth.
Because of all this, the Earth was essentially one big, self-shielded, self-heated green house, effectively making it a super-growing machine.

In verses 14-19, we find that only now, Jesus creates the Sun.  So for the first three days, only the glory of Jesus with the Father provided the light for the Earth.
On this day 4, Jesus also made all of the stars!  This perhaps has to be the biggest understatement of the entire Bible.  Think about it; for all we know, there are an infinite number of stars in the Universe, and Jesus made them all in just one day!  WOW!
Let's talk about the age of the Sun.  We have a pretty good grasp of the fusion reaction of Hydrogen to generate heat.  In the reaction, mass is converted to energy, Helium is formed, and a particular type of neutrino is released, a muon neutrino.  As reported in the April 1995 edition of Physics Today, only 60% of the expected neutrinos are being detected here on Earth.  That is, if the Sun were 4.6 billion years old, and the heavier element reactions were also occurring, increasing the total quantity of reactions (as they do when a Sun ages), then we are missing 40% of the expected neutrinos!  Curiously, as the Physics Today article mentions, the amount of neutrinos being collected is precisely the amount we would get if only the primary reaction were occurring (that is, just the Hydrogen reaction).  The only time when just the Hydrogen reaction exclusively occurs is when a Sun is new.  I conclude from this that our Sun is brand new; approximately 6,431 years old.
Let's talk about the age of the Moon.  When I was a kid in the early 60s, they sent un-manned lunar landers named Surveyor up to the Moon for a scouting mission.  I remember them stating before any of them landed, that because our solar system is about 4.6 billion years old, the moon would have accumulated 54 feet of dust over such a long time.  However, when the landers got there, very little dust was found!  Later, when Apollo 11 arrived, just enough to leave nice footprints was available (about 1/8" of an inch).  Neil Armstrong's first words on the moon were: "That's one small step for man - one giant leap for mankind.  Yes, the surface is fine and powdery.  I can kick it up loosely with my toe.  It does adhere in fine layers, like powdered charcoal, to the sole and sides of my boots.  I only go in a small fraction of an inch, maybe an eighth of an inch, but I can see the footprints of my boots and the treads in the fine, sandy particles."  Using their original calculations, the moon's age would be:
  • 0.125"/(12"/'*54') * 4.6E9 = 0.9 million
This is considerably closer to the approximate age of 6,431 years than it is to 4.6 billion.

Genesis Chapter 2, KJV 1611 Comments
1 Thus the heavens and the earth were finished, and all the host of them.
2 And on the seventh day God ended his work which he had made; and he rested on the seventh day from all his work which he had made.
3 And God blessed the seventh day, and sanctified it: because that in it he had rested from all his work which God created and made.
4 These are the generations of the heavens and of the earth when they were created, in the day that the LORD God made the earth and the heavens,
5 And every plant of the field before it was in the earth, and every herb of the field before it grew: for the LORD God had not caused it to rain upon the earth, and there was not a man to till the ground.
6 But there went up a mist from the earth, and watered the whole face of the ground.
Here we see that no rain falls upon the pre-flood Earth.  The reason that a rain cycle did not form could be from the following:
  1. The global variation of temperature was very little, from pole to equator.  When the Earth was heated from the inside-out, and the bulk of the Sun's heating energy is being blocked-out, this seems reasonable.
  2. The relative height of the mountains would have been quite low; maybe as little as 300 feet.  Also, for the Earth to be totally flooded-out in Noah's time, it works out better when the hills aren't too high to begin with.
Jesus "engineered and designed" the Earth, and it truly was an idyllic paradise.  It was a phenomenal growing machine, and people lived very long lives (for example, Noah's Grandpa Methuselah lived to the age of 969 years!).

Genesis Chapter 6, KJV 1611 Comments
1 And it came to pass, when men began to multiply on the face of the earth, and daughters were born unto them,
2 That the sons of God saw the daughters of men that they were fair; and they took them wives of all which they chose.
3 And the LORD said, My spirit shall not always strive with man, for that he also is flesh: yet his days shall be an hundred and twenty years.
4 There were giants in the earth in those days; and also after that, when the sons of God came in unto the daughters of men, and they bare children to them, the same became mighty men which were of old, men of renown.
5 And GOD saw that the wickedness of man was great in the earth, and that every imagination of the thoughts of his heart was only evil continually.
6 And it repented the LORD that he had made man on the earth, and it grieved him at his heart.
7 And the LORD said, I will destroy man whom I have created from the face of the earth; both man, and beast, and the creeping thing, and the fowls of the air; for it repenteth me that I have made them.
8 But Noah found grace in the eyes of the LORD.
9 These are the generations of Noah: Noah was a just man and perfect in his generations, and Noah walked with God.
10 And Noah begat three sons, Shem, Ham, and Japheth.
11 The earth also was corrupt before God, and the earth was filled with violence.
12 And God looked upon the earth, and, behold, it was corrupt; for all flesh had corrupted his way upon the earth.
13 And God said unto Noah, The end of all flesh is come before me; for the earth is filled with violence through them; and, behold, I will destroy them with the earth.
14 Make thee an ark of gopher wood; rooms shalt thou make in the ark, and shalt pitch it within and without with pitch.
15 And this is the fashion which thou shalt make it of: The length of the ark shall be three hundred cubits, the breadth of it fifty cubits, and the height of it thirty cubits.
16 A window shalt thou make to the ark, and in a cubit shalt thou finish it above; and the door of the ark shalt thou set in the side thereof; with lower, second, and third stories shalt thou make it.
17 And, behold, I, even I, do bring a flood of waters upon the earth, to destroy all flesh, wherein is the breath of life, from under heaven; and every thing that is in the earth shall die.
18 But with thee will I establish my covenant; and thou shalt come into the ark, thou, and thy sons, and thy wife, and thy sons' wives with thee.
19 And of every living thing of all flesh, two of every sort shalt thou bring into the ark, to keep them alive with thee; they shall be male and female.
20 Of fowls after their kind, and of cattle after their kind, of every creeping thing of the earth after his kind, two of every sort shall come unto thee, to keep them alive.
21 And take thou unto thee of all food that is eaten, and thou shalt gather it to thee; and it shall be for food for thee, and for them.
22 Thus did Noah; according to all that God commanded him, so did he.
Why did God flood out the Earth?  The Living Bible describes "evil beings from the spirit world" who took human wives and had hybrid human children; the Nephilim.  Additionally, most of mankind had become evil (except for Noah).  So, in addition to the flood needing to kill-off the Nephilims, God had to change the Earth to keep these "evil beings from the spirit world" from continually coming back and breeding Nephilim in such large numbers that they could not ultimately be wiped out.
From Numbers 13:33 comes the evidence that at least one evil being from the spirit world did indeed get back to earth after the flood, and had at least one Nephilim offspring.  It seems reasonable that Goliath was a descendant of post-flood Nephilim (see 1 Samuel 17:4).
Perhaps another reason for the flood is that, before the flood, Earth was such a "place like heaven" that man became too self-assured.  He lived so long that he just kept putting-off thinking about God.  With our current life span of only 70 to 80 years, we have to make the decision to accept Christ as soon as possible; waiting at all could make it too late.
So, was flooding the Earth a curse or a blessing?  I think it was a blessing because it gave man the right attitude for Christ to come and save us.

1 And the LORD said unto Noah, Come thou and all thy house into the ark; for thee have I seen righteous before me in this generation.
2 Of every clean beast thou shalt take to thee by sevens, the male and his female: and of beasts that are not clean by two, the male and his female.
3 Of fowls also of the air by sevens, the male and the female; to keep seed alive upon the face of all the earth.
4 For yet seven days, and I will cause it to rain upon the earth forty days and forty nights; and every living substance that I have made will I destroy from off the face of the earth.
5 And Noah did according unto all that the LORD commanded him.
6 And Noah was six hundred years old when the flood of waters was upon the earth.
7 And Noah went in, and his sons, and his wife, and his sons' wives with him, into the ark, because of the waters of the flood.
8 Of clean beasts, and of beasts that are not clean, and of fowls, and of every thing that creepeth upon the earth,
9 There went in two and two unto Noah into the ark, the male and the female, as God had commanded Noah.
10 And it came to pass after seven days, that the waters of the flood were upon the earth.
11 In the six hundredth year of Noah's life, in the second month, the seventeenth day of the month, the same day were all the fountains of the great deep broken up, and the windows (2) of heaven were opened.
12 And the rain was upon the earth forty days and forty nights.
     13 In the selfsame day entered Noah, and Shem, and Ham, and Japheth, the sons of Noah, and Noah's wife, and the three wives of his sons with them, into the ark;
14 They, and every beast after his kind, and all the cattle after their kind, and every creeping thing that creepeth upon the earth after his kind, and every fowl after his kind, every bird of every sort.
15 And they went in unto Noah into the ark, two and two of all flesh, wherein is the breath of life.
16 And they that went in, went in male and female of all flesh, as God had commanded him: and the LORD shut him in.
17 And the flood was forty days upon the earth; and the waters increased, and bare up the ark, and it was lift up above the earth.
18 And the waters prevailed, and were increased greatly upon the earth; and the ark went upon the face of the waters.
19 And the waters prevailed exceedingly upon the earth; and all the high hills, that were under the whole heaven, were covered.
20 Fifteen cubits upward did the waters prevail; and the mountains were covered.

21 And all flesh died that moved upon the earth, both of fowl, and of cattle, and of beast, and of every creeping thing that creepeth upon the earth, and every man:
22 All in whose nostrils was the breath of life, of all that was in the dry land, died.
23 And every living substance was destroyed which was upon the face of the ground, both man, and cattle, and the creeping things, and the fowl of the heaven; and they were destroyed from the earth: and Noah only remained alive, and they that were with him in the ark.
24 And the waters prevailed upon the earth an hundred and fifty days.

Our own Milky Way Galaxy is unlike any other in the Universe.  A penetrating infrared census of about 30 million stars indicates that the Milky Way Galaxy is distinguished by a very large central bar some 27,000 light-years long.  It is very likely that our unique appearance is due to us being the epicenter of the opening of the Windows of Heaven, when all the stars were both 1.) moved away from Earth & 2.) other galaxies were moved away from our own galaxy.  This photo is from the 8-25-2005.Astronomy Pic of the day.

Verse 7:11 is the key to understanding perhaps the greatest mystery of modern astronomy.  The question is, if our Sun and Moon are brand new (see the Genesis 1 comments) then how could the stars be very old.  All the stars were made on day four, along with the Sun and the Moon, however, they are millions and sometimes billions of light-years away from us.  This says that the light arriving here is from millions and billions of years ago.  The answer is reached through elimination.
Two things happen in 7:11; first, the fountains of the great deep burst forth.  A great crack in the firmament called Heaven was made between what is now the Americas and Europe / Africa.  Then, the foundations supporting the underground cavern were broken, and forced all of the subterranean water out to the surface of the Earth, totally flooding it out.
Secondly, the windows of the heavens were opened.  Lots of folks quickly assume that this was stored rain in the upper atmosphere, but I don't think so.  First, it had never rained upon the Earth, and secondly, the sky was bronze in color, not grey (see the Job 37 comment).  So, what are the windows of heaven?  If it wasn't rain, then I think it was the Fifth force.  The first four forces are:
  1. Gravity
  2. Electro-magnetic
  3. weak molecular
  4. strong atomic
and the fifth force would be the windows of heaven.  It is opposite to gravity, being a repulsive force (also see the Job 9 comments and Job 38 comments, which describe a repulsive force).  The "Window" would be a transparent barrier to a dimension beyond our normal three.  Depending upon the degree that the Window is opened, the speed of the object caught-up in it could be varied.
I believe the mechanism that this works under is through the movement of space itself.  When a traveler goes through space at increasing speeds, the traveler's time progresses slower and slower, relative to Earth-based observations.  This has been proven out as a verifiable phenomenon during our country's space flights.  Conversely, I think that objects caught-up in an opening window of heaven are not moving through space, but rather, the space in which they reside is being moved in a trans-dimensional fashion.  Here, Einstein's theory of relativity can be though of in a reverse case situation, and would support that stars caught-up in a moving reference frame of space would experience time speeding-up, relative to our observations.  So, the faster the space containing a star is moved, the faster the star would progress forward through time.  Einstein himself originally proposed this force, calling it the Cosmological Constant, but was later talked out of it by other physicists.  I think he should have stuck to his own ideas on that one.
What all of this means is that the Sun, the Moon, and the stars could have all been made on the same day (day four), but now, they are very different in age.  Our Sun and Moon having only aged to approximately 6,431 years old, while the stars are now varying in age up to billions of years old, with the further away they are from us, the older they are.  This brings us back to the old church view that we (the Earth) are at the center of the universe.
What other evidence supports the Bible here?  First, is the Red Shift of most all stars.  It indicates a "trail" of interstellar recession.  Some theorize that the Red Shift is caused by remnants of the big bang, but a U.S. News & World Report article from July 20th, 1998 indicates that the chance of the Omega Value being "just right" to coalesce the stellar matter into solar systems is just one-quadrillionth of 1% (that is, one chance in 1x1017)!  Otherwise, it would have blown off into infinity and dust, or just would have globbed-back into a ball of mass trash.  So, it looks like the Red Shift is really an echo of the windows of heaven being opened at the time of Noah's flood.
Further evidence that the big bang is not a result of an explosion, but rather a placement of the stars is from the work of Clyde Tombaugh.  Most famous for his discovery of Pluto in 1930, he also went head-to-head against Hubble.  Hubble not only theorized that 95% of the galaxies in the universe were randomly distributed as the result of an explosion, but also claimed to have measured this from Mount Wilson Observatory.  Conversely, Tombaugh measured nearly 30,000 galaxies (about 20 times the number know up to that time) and found just the opposite!  Ninety-five percent of the galaxies belonged to clusters, indicated placement, rather than explosion.
Secondly, we have about 140 Globular Clusters around our own Milky Way Galaxy.  These are a perfect example of the windows of heaven running on idle.  With no apparent rotation, groups of stars just hang together in a ball.  It seems that gravity as a whole keeps the ball together, and the windows of heaven provide an inter-spatial force to keep each star separated within the ball.  The windows of heaven also eliminates another bit of bad astronomical theory; dark matter.  This theory suggests that, since the big galaxies seem to have only 1/10 the required mass to be in an orbital velocity, there must be 10 times more mass out there that we just can't see (things like black holes, etc.).  The good thing about the windows of heaven mechanism is that now galaxies can just happen to be rotating; they don't need to be in an orbital profile, lacking all of this "invisible" mass.
So why push the stars away at the time of the flood?  According to Job 38:33, God asks Job if he does "...know the ordinances of the heavens?  Can you establish their rule on the earth?".  Somehow, the stars have an effect on Earth.  Perhaps the radiation from so many stars so close to earth might have killed every living thing, once the magnetic shield wound down.  (places in the Bible where interstellar movement is mentioned)
And finally, a note about carbon datingFossils have been dated at ages much greater than approximately 6,431 years old, and yet the Sun, made on day four of creation, is still brand-new!  How could this be?  Carbon 14 is also called known as Radio Carbon (which is short for Radioactive Carbon) and the way it becomes radioactive is by high energy cosmic rays hitting Carbon 12 (the normal variant of carbon).  Since the pre-flood Earth had a very powerful magnetic shield which would have stopped cosmic rays, it would be very easy to see that virtually no Carbon 14 was formed before the flood.  Also, since the magnetic shield gradually decreased in field strength after the flood, Carbon 14 production would have scaled-up only slowly to today's present levels.  The only time things absorb Carbon 14 is while they are still alive, and then the age of the dead animal or plant is calculated based upon the half life of the decaying Carbon 14 still remaining.  It is easy to see that the current "accepted" system of dating grossly over-estimates the age of fossils, when one ignores the pre-flood Earth's powerful magnetic shield.

One interesting thought from this section of Genesis that affects us today is the knowledge of where we are from.  Where you come from does indeed influence how you think about life, and also affects how you treat others.  Very specifically, please notice that in verses 21-23, only Noah and his family survived this flood.  This means that in the year 2,757 BC, we all came from the same Great Grandfather, and hence we are all related to each other.

     1 And God remembered Noah, and every living thing, and all the cattle that was with him in the ark: and God made a wind to pass over the earth, and the waters asswaged;
     2 The fountains also of the deep and the windows of heaven were stopped, and the rain from heaven was restrained;
3 And the waters returned from off the earth continually: and after the end of the hundred and fifty days the waters were abated.
4 And the ark rested in the seventh month, on the seventeenth day of the month, upon the mountains of Ararat.
5 And the waters decreased continually until the tenth month: in the tenth month, on the first day of the month, were the tops of the mountains seen.
6 And it came to pass at the end of forty days, that Noah opened the window of the ark which he had made:
7 And he sent forth a raven, which went forth to and fro, until the waters were dried up from off the earth.
     8 Also he sent forth a dove from him, to see if the waters were abated from off the face of the ground;
9 But the dove found no rest for the sole of her foot, and she returned unto him into the ark, for the waters were on the face of the whole earth: then he put forth his hand, and took her, and pulled her in unto him into the ark.
     10 And he stayed yet other seven days; and again he sent forth the dove out of the ark;
11 And the dove came in to him in the evening; and, lo, in her mouth was an olive leaf pluckt off: so Noah knew that the waters were abated from off the earth.
12 And he stayed yet other seven days; and sent forth the dove; which returned not again unto him any more.
13 And it came to pass in the six hundredth and first year, in the first month, the first day of the month, the waters were dried up from off the earth: and Noah removed the covering of the ark, and looked, and, behold, the face of the ground was dry.
14 And in the second month, on the seven and twentieth day of the month, was the earth dried.
15 And God spake unto Noah, saying,
16 Go forth of the ark, thou, and thy wife, and thy sons, and thy sons' wives with thee.
17 Bring forth with thee every living thing that is with thee, of all flesh, both of fowl, and of cattle, and of every creeping thing that creepeth upon the earth; that they may breed abundantly in the earth, and be fruitful, and multiply upon the earth.
18 And Noah went forth, and his sons, and his wife, and his sons' wives with him:
19 Every beast, every creeping thing, and every fowl, and whatsoever creepeth upon the earth, after their kinds, went forth out of the ark.

DISCLAIMER:  I don't know if this really is Noah's Ark.  Other Ark Research Web sites (01, 02, 03, CIA) don't think this "Durupinar" site (also known as the Wyatt site) is the real Ark.  IT IS the only photograph available that looks like it could be Noah's Ark.
Your guess here is as good as mine.

Model of Noah's Ark
So where did all the flood waters go?  They're all still here, in our deep oceans.  Sometime about half-way through the year that Noah and his family were in the Ark, all of the continental drift occurred.  Not slowly, at a half an inch per year, but rather quickly.   From the text of Genesis, the water receded over a period of about 5 months.  Assuming that there were two major land masses in motion, and each traveled about 1/3 of the way around the earth, then their relative separation speed would have been about 4.5 MPH!
The continental plates were forced by God into motion, perhaps even sliding on a thin hydrodynamic film of water left-over from the fountains of the deep.  As the land masses wrapped around the Earth, they slammed into each other on their leading edges.  These tremendous collisions caused such a force of impact, that we now find sea fossils thrust up to 17,000 feet high, and ocean trenches dug out to 7 miles deep.
The Earth had one final post-flood transition to undergo.  Again, keep in mind that before the flood, the Earth was heated from the inside out.  Also, the heating energy of the sun was blocked-out by the “bronze mirror” magnetic shield (see the Job 37 comments).
After the flood, while the Earth retained its own ideal warmth, animals like the Woolly Mammoth populated North America.  After perhaps forty to one hundred years, the Earth had cooled down to the point where the first Winter Storm could form; one so fierce and sudden that many of the animals on the Northern Plains were frozen dead in their tracks.  Because the Earth’s residual heat was dissipating much more quickly than the magnetic field was winding down, this Ice Age continued for hundreds of years.  Eventually, however, the sun took over the whole job of heating the Earth, gradually bringing the global temperatures up to a point of thermal equilibrium.

1 Let us therefore fear, lest, a promise being left us of entering into his rest, any of you should seem to come short of it.
2 For unto us was the gospel preached, as well as unto them: but the word preached did not profit them, not being mixed with faith in them that heard it.
3 For we which have believed do enter into rest, as he said, As I have sworn in my wrath, if they shall enter into my rest: although the works were finished from the foundation of the world.
4 For he spake in a certain place of the seventh day on this wise, And God did rest the seventh day from all his works.
